About

I am interested in bat research, including community ecology, behavior, conservation, and evolution.  I worked as a research assistant in the summer of 2009 on a project investigating ecosystem services of bats in Texas pecan orchards.  During the summer of 2010 I implemented my Senior Honors Thesis project in Texas to determine species preferences for bat house design and to determine the effect of bat houses on bat activity in an area.

I have received a U.S. Fulbright Postgraduate Scholarship to conduct research to develop new techniques, including using innovative missile tracking systems and infrared technology, that will provide invaluable information about the population trends and breeding success of the Critically Endangered Southern Bent-wing Bat (Miniopterus schreibersii bassanii) in South Australia. After completion of this project I will be looking for graduate school opportunities in bat research.
